Kelly Martha Stewart!

Today I am officially Kelly martha Stewart. I am attempting to paint and decorate my own personal space. I went to walmart, found curtains I like, more like a cutsie swag dealio and then matched a bright accent color for the wall. Now I'm not a purple fan, some shades are nice but I usually like more comtemporary colors. But I chose a dark navy for the swag and a lively lavendar for the wall color. Now I know what you think. DEAR LORD! WHAT HAS SHE DONE. But really it looks rather nice together....or at least I think it does :)

I will post pics as soon as its ready :)

New Specs

So How happy am I with my new specs!! I have never been able to see this well! Ever!!. I'm usually squinting even with my glasses on when I'm looking at the computer screen, but suddenly a whole new world has opened up!! I CAN SEE!! Its amazing I'm sitting here 2 feet away from my monitor and I can see the tiny text LOL :) Ok sorry I had to blog this because I'm just so excited. My new frames are also somewhat new. Something completely different from what I would have ever chosen, they are called "britney" but they are so not a valley girl kind of glasses. I will post them soon so you can see them :)

Caitlin's Progress

So for the longest time, when I first decided to homeschool, I couldn't figure out what curriculum to use. There are so many out there and so many resources it was a tough decision to make. But when Caitlin was three I looked through some curriculum books at Barnes and Noble and found a beginning cutting and tracing book from KUMON Caitlin loved it and flew through the books like there was no tomorrow. She wasn't bored and she was always excited about doing *school* After finishiing the cutting and tracing books, we moved on to other books such as, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers 1-30 and the pasting book. She loves them all and is almost finished with all of them. She's started kindergarden Math and Kindergarden reading. She read her first beginner book yesterday to her dad. She was so excited. We use Hooked on Phonics and its really an amazing curriculum. Caitlin has really taken off and is really excited about using the software and placing stickers on the word families shes learned. She's really loving school and is always excited about doing. Which gives me the encouragement I need to remember the choice we made to homeschool was a great one. :)

Teach The Children

Just a week before Christmas I had a visitor. This is how it happened...

I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree. He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out.

"What are you doing?" I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat, and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous soul we all know.

He then answered me with a simple statement. "TEACH THE CHILDREN!" I was puzzled; what did he mean? He anticipated my question, and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree.

As I stood bewildered, Santa said, "Teach the children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas; the meaning that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten."

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before the mantle. "Teach the children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven."

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of His promise."

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree. "Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag and ornament of HIMSELF. "Teach the children that I, Santa Clause symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly represents the blood shed by Him."

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said, "Teach the children that God so loved the world that he gave..." Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift. Teach the children that the wise men bowed before the holy babe and presented him with gold, frankincense and myrrh. We should always give gifts in the same spirit of the wise men."

Again Santa reached into his bag. This time he brought forth a tiny red and white striped CANDY CANE. As he hung it on the tree, he spoke softly. "The candy cane is a stick of hard white candy. White is to symbolize the virgin birth and the sinless nature of Jesus. The hardness symbolizes the Solid Rock ... the foundation of the church, and the firmness of God's promises. The candy cane is in the shape of a "J" to represent our Savior. It represents the precious name of Jesus, who came to earth.

It is also the shape of the crook of the Good Shepherd, which He uses to reach down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs ... who, like all sheep, have gone astray. The original candy cane had three small red stripes, which are the stripes of the scourging Jesus received by which we are healed. It also has a large red stripe that represents the blood shed of Jesus, so that we can have the promise of eternal life. Teach these things to the children."

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang 'Glory to God in the highest on earth peace and good will toward men."

Suddenly I heard a soft tinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL. "Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return. Santa looked back and was pleased.

He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eyes.
He said, "Remember, teach the children the TRUE meaning of Christmas and do not put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is, and I bow down to worship Him,
Jesus Christ our Lord, our God."

Pooh Snatchers

I'm pissed off today. I go outside to take out some poopy diapers and I find that someone has stolen our inflatable pooh! Yanked teh sucker right out of the ground. To bad they didn't get electrocuted in the process. It was a christmas pooh I bought for the kids 20$ at walgreens. My daughter is devastated. COME ON PEOPLE!! Get your own damn decorations! Who knew you had to chain down your christmas decorations.

A conversation between 4 year olds

Caitlins friend zachary came over today to play and here is a conversation I overheard.

*while playing*

caitlin: Zachary look see my baby *holding her baby my little pony complete with diapers and a bottle*
Zachary: Oh he has a tummy ache
Caitlin: Zachary its a girl. WE'RE GOING TO BE PARENTS
Caitlin: Mommy, zachary and I are going to be parents!!
Mommy: LOL shes a beautiful baby
Zachary: She has a tummy ache
Caitlin: NO ZACHARY *SIGH* SHE'S FINE!! (just like typical wife and husband style)

Before i was a Mom

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do
tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want
to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the
hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my
body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and
happy.
Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every
10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The
wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

And remember that behind every successful mother... Is a basket of dirty
laundry.
