Apathy....
Tonight my husband said, its hard to fight apathy. So what is Apathy?? Seems like a reasonable question.
So I went to 'ol Websters.com and I found three different definition entries from three sources.
1.
ap·a·thy [ap-uh-thee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun, plural -thies.
1. absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement.
2. lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting.
3. Also, ap·a·thei·a, ap·a·thi·a [ap-uh-thee-uh] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation. Stoicism. freedom from emotion of any kind.
2.
ap·a·thy (āp'ə-thē) Pronunciation Key
n.
Lack of interest or concern, especially regarding matters of general importance or appeal; indifference.
Lack of emotion or feeling; impassiveness.
3.
apathy
noun
1. an absence of emotion or enthusiasm
2. the trait of lacking enthusiasm for or interest in things generally
In my case, I feel that #2 best describes my neighborhood. I can't believe how unmoved people are by their surroundings. How little motivation their is for people to change what is wrong in the world. And I"m not talking huge changes here. I'm just talking about a clean neighborhood. A no graffiti/garbage filled neighborhood. It seems like people just sit back and watch the rest of the world take charge. They take the "oh someone else will do it Motto".
WELL SCREW YOU! I ain't your momma so clean up after yourself!
Thats what I really want to say to them....
