So my children are currently 3 and 10 months. We are going through the process of deciding whether or not to homeschool our children. Growing up as kids, Tom and I both struggled in different ways in school. Tom was the overly Intelligent, didn't have to try to hard kid, that got into a lot of trouble because he wasn't challenged enough and he was bored. I was the kid that got bored in the slow paced class but struggled in the faster paced class and didn't get the individual attention I needed to succeed. So I was tossed around year after year, and I struggled. Until 5th grade and they found that our entire class didn't even know their multiplication facts (THE WHOLE CLASS!!) What is wrong with this picture?!?!?!? The teacher spent an entire semester making us memorize them. He was one teacher out of first through 5th who finally took a stand and said, something is wrong. These kids aren't learning, and didn't let us move on till we memorized them. And that in itsself is a one of the major reasons why we want to homeschool. What an advantage the kids would have being taught one to one. Caitlin is already excelling in areas. She blows me away every day that we play and learn patterns or opposites. She has such a glowing passion for reading. She would sit all day if she could reading, its amazing!!

The second major reason, cliques, and the pressures from peer groups. I dont want my kids going to school and learning that its important to look like someone else, or if they dont buy the right clothes or they dont conform they dont fit in. I want to give them a firm foundation and help to

My greatest joys

My two greatest joys are my kids. I couldn't imagine my life without them at all. I can't imagine what I would do if I couldn't tell Bean to stop jumping on her brother a thousand times or listening to goo scream his head off because he isn't getting his way (he's a fiesty 10 month old). But I do have my days when I'm so frustrated and at my wits end that I relive in my head those calgon commercials from long ago. I mean who wouldn't want to sit in a hot bubbly bath for hours ignoring lifes demands and personal obligations and forgot those dang adult responsibilities. And as I'm writing I'm yelling at my daughter to "drop the lipstick, do not ruin my lipstick" Caitlin "but I want lips mommy" and as my son is screaming his head off because he just doesn't want to go down for his nap, and the dog whining because he needs to go out for a pee break. All this happening, as I just walked into the house after docs appts, picking up a child from school, feeding diapering(did I happen to mention my daughter, after i said no of course, snuck into the livingroom with her popsicle behind her back. I just scared her by saying excuse me, she jumped and knew instantly she was in trouble.

Now, I'm sitting here tapping my foot thinking, dear god when is Tom going to be home.

But no really the list of reason why I adore my children could go on forever. The funny things they do, the funny things they say. They are the greatest joys in my life!!

P.S. did I mention the poopy diapers???
Tonights Excitement

So tonight we are having some friends over to play karaoke revolution and have some dinner. It should be a blast, because everytime two or more are gathered around the PS2 its a constant laughfest. So much fun! My friend Liz introduced this game to us one night at a church gathering and it seems to be the game of choice whenever we are all together. So after Liz, Tom and I purchased KR3 for Matt and Em we decided to get it ourselves, then we were so addicted to it, that we found 1 and 2 used. OOOHHh I forgot to tell Liz we have Dance Dance revolution also, I forgot we had it, DOH it was my christmas present. :) I should get it out today.
My First Entry

Ok, so I caved...I finally started my own blog site. My husband and my friend liz finally convinced me it was the thing to do. I will be back with more ramblings :) See ya then!
